| What can the State Corporation Commission and the
Virginia Attorney General do for you (or your client)?
Here is a chance to learn some of the ways the SCC
and the Office of the Attorney General provide consumer
protection to citizens of the Commonwealth on a daily
basis. Topics will include the handling of complaints
against regulated entities, representation of the
interests of consumers in SCC rate hearings, and
the Attorney General's enforcement of state and federal
consumer protection and antitrust laws. Panelists
are: Joel Peck, Clerk of the State Corporation Commission;
Ken Schrad, Director of the Division of Information
Resources of the State Corporation Commission; David
B. Irvin, Senior Assistant Attorney General of the
Antitrust and Consumer Litigation Section; and Meade

Sense of the Numbers: Financial Accounting for
Lawyers"

| Guy Davis and Rob Smith of Protiviti, Inc. will
provide a primer in accounting and finance designed
to assist lawyers in interpreting and analyzing the
balance sheet and income statement of a company.
The presentation will address frequently used (and
misused) accounting and finance terminology, the
audit report, and a basic approach to assessing a
corporation's financial condition. Tips will also
be provided relating to accounting red flags and
discovery advice. |
